Save the Geese!

I read about the plight of Canada Geese in Brooklyn's Prospect Park last summer, and then came across Anne-Katrin Titze, the local animal-rights activist who has taken up their cause. We sent her our Canada Geese shawl, which she is seen wearing in these photos, as she continues rescuing the ducks, geese and swans of Prospect Park. Here is a story of her recent rescue of Achilles, a local cygnet, and a video interview: http://brooklynpaper.com/stories/33/47/dtg_cygnetrescue_2010_11_19_bk.html

  1. We are lucky to have Anne-Katrin and Ed as the lakekeepers.
We are inspired by their work and in turn are watching out for the next generation of our our beloved Canada Geese as well as all waterfowl and wildlife in the park. Your designs are beautiful!!!!

  2. Well it's a lovely shawl. Some really ugly things have happened to the park's birds over the past few years - what's uglier is that they could be easily prevented. We need people like Anne-Katrin that stand up for what's right. Keep up the momentum!

  7. We just read a NY Times story where Ms. Titze is quoted on the Canada Geese.
Your shawl is so fantastic and a great tribute.
Where do you sell your prints in NYC?

  9. Dear Virginia Johnson,

Do you have an outlet for your shawl prints in New York City? The Canada Geese are a most worthy subject.

  10. Ann-Katrin is a hero. A hero is anyone who devotes themselves to lessening the suffering of other beings. Ed is a hero too. Thank you so much for recognizing their wonderful work and enormous efforts to help wildlife in Prospect Park. If the Park Administrator cared enough to put up signs informing fisherpeople that barbed hooks are illegal and that the law will be enforced it would help enormously. But they don't care enough to do it so we need heros to step in. The shawl is absolutely fabulous and makes Ann-katrin look lovlier than ever! WOW!
