For our Toronto customers - because our new location on College street is not open yet, if you would like to pick up your order at our office simply place your order online and email us at info@virginiajohnson.com. The shipping charge will be removed before processing and we will be in touch with you to arrange a time for pick up.

The Perfectly Imperfect Home

Today marks the launch of The Perfectly Imperfect Home, written by the supremely talented Domino magazine founder Deborah Needleman. I had the privilege of working with her to illustrate the book at a very fortuitous time (renovating our house and defending my more eclectic style against my husband's minimalism).

reDesign at the Textile Museum

On November 3, 2011, the Textile Museum of Canada will launch a new fundraising event, reDesign 2011 at the Gladstone Hotel. Virginia was asked to contribute to the project where artists, designers and architects reimagine and refurbish identical Louis XVI‐style chairs to be sold at silent auction.

As the Museum’s signature fundraising event, all proceeds from reDesign 2011 support the TMC’s internationally recognized programs and collections. reDesign 2011 will take place on November 3, 2011, 6:30 – 9:00 pm at the Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen Street West, Toronto. Tickets to the event are $100. To purchase tickets, call 416‐599‐5321 extension 2246.

We're Moving!

Our last day at our 132 Ossington Ave location in Toronto will be Saturday, October 22. Our new address will be 970 College Street, just west of Dovercourt.

Our studio and head office will be open for business on November 1. Our retail store will re-open in Spring 2012!

Please join us for our semi-annual Sample Sale at 76 Ossington on November 18 & 19. And don't miss our Holiday Pop-up Shop at our new location, December 10 to 24! More details will follow on those events.

This New Baby

We are very excited to invite you to the launch of Teddy Jam and Virginia Johnson's new book This New Baby, published by Groundwood Books. Teddy Jam’s 1998 board book about a mother caring for her baby through the night is being re-released with Virginia's illustrations. This New Baby has been selected as one of Heather's Picks by Chapters-Indigo!

Calling all Luxury Vagabonds: if you want to discover India with the insider's knowledge of the ambassador's wife, with tips on where to eat and where to shop and where to buy antique saris, these are the travel books for you. I wish I had known about these on my last trip!

Fiona Caulfield is a travel writer originally from Australia who now calls India home. I think she's brilliant to write these books because most people I know aren't grouped easily by budget, and yet that's how most travel guides are written. They might splurge on hand-made textiles or a really good massage but would eat dinner from a street vendor or stay in a no-frills guest house. These books are available in our Toronto shop and will be online soon.
